At a ceremony at the Camden Local Area Command on 5 June, NSW Police Legacy Chair Detective Superintendent Gary Merryweather presented Senior Constables Jono Wright and Matt Foley with the collective funds raised for them after the terrible accident at an RBT station in Leumeah in February this year.
Commissioner Michael Fuller, Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy, and Superintendent Ward Hanson also gave speeches, and all spoke about the outpouring of support received from both the policing community and the general community, and the way in which the police family came together to support the two officers.
More than $175,000 was raised for the two officers, through a combination of donations from the public and fundraising events, including a gala dinner organised by the Camden Local Area Command which raised more than $105,000.
It is heart-warming for us to see the level of support that exists for police officers in the community, and we wish both senior constables all the very best with their ongoing recovery and rehabilitation.
