Confirmed at the Annual General Meeting on 8 May, we welcome Detective Superintendent Gary Merryweather APM to the position of Chair of NSW Police Legacy.
Gary attested to the NSW Police Force in 1987. He was promoted to the Rank of Superintendent in 2008, taking up Command positions at Monaro, Quakers Hill and Blacktown Police area Commands. In 2014 he was appointed as Commander, Blacktown Local Area Command, where he is a strong advocate for the prevention of violence towards women and an active White Ribbon Ambassador. Between 2014 and 2018 Gary was an Executive Member of the NSW Police Association, representing the Commissioned Officers, and was a delegate for the Police Federation of Australia. In this role Gary has been active in supporting the welfare services provided to the membership and is a member of the welfare committee. Gary was elected as a Board member for NSWPL in 2017.
