Tara's Gift Scholarship Winner

March 2021

The winner of the Tara’s Gift award this year is Ainsley Baker. The Award honours the memory of Tara Tobin, a respected Police Officer, Board Member, and volunteer (who served several times as a Camp Supervisor), and is awarded for leadership on camp. Sean and Tara’s two children Harry and Flynn attended camp for the first time this year, and in a beautiful tribute to their mother, helped present the award to Ainsley alongside their father Sean.

The Morgan Hill Scholarship was awarded to Evelyn Finn Young and Evan Garraway. The scholarship honours the memory of Contable Morgan Hill, a young Police Officer who died in 2009, and provides two $1,000 scholarships specifically for young Police Legatees to purchase IT equipment needed for education. Morgan’s mother and father would normally present the award at a morning tea, but due to COVID restrictions we were unable to host the event.

Tertiary Scholarships are now open! There are five scholarships worth $5,000 each, awarded to assist Police Legatees with their tertiary education (including University and TAFE). Applications close soon, so please contact Leisa for information.

The Kerslake Scholarship is also now open, and provides $5,000 to assist an eligible Police Legatee age 17 – 25 years who is pursuing a technical course of study. This scholarship honours the memory of Graham George Kerslake, who had a long standing commitment to teaching students in technical education.
