It’s never too late to learn, and thanks to NSW Police Legacy Champion Sergeant Steven Planinic, our young (and not-so-young) legatees learned a lot at the Safe Driver Course in April. Twenty keen drivers attended, thanks to Dimeo, who supported our legatees with flights and accommodation, and to Driving Solutions, who donated their time and their venue for the event.
Our legatees were taught the basics of mechanical maintenance, and then taken onto the skid pan to try out ABS braking, and apply some of their newly-acquired theoretical knowledge. It was a great day, with positive feedback received from all legatees. Community Support Manager Leisa noticed that the lessons had really sunk in when she got in the rental mini-bus at the end of the day and was asked if she’d done all her safety checks before starting the vehicle!
