June 2018
Many thanks to everybody who came along and made our NSW Police Legacy Family Day such a wonderfully warm and welcoming day! Blue skies were just the beginning of the perfect day, as the crowds streamed into Government House and started enjoying the festivities, from face painting to the jumping castle to good old-fashioned running around.
The Police Band were in their usual glorious form to entertain throughout the day, and later in the afternoon we had a different kind of musical entertainment from Legatee Callum Stewart, who treated us to his piano prowess.
Other entertainment included a visit from two affectionate 4-month-old police dogs and two mighty police horses. And then of course there was simply being in the magnificent house and gardens of the Governor.
Newly-appointed Chair Detective Superintendent Gary Merryweather welcomed all attendees and led us in a minute's silence to honour our fallen, and Commissioner Michael Fuller added his welcome to everybody attending.
Enormous thanks to the His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d) and Mrs Linda Hurley for so generously allowing us the use of the house and gardens, to the police band, and the dog & horse handlers, to all of our tireless volunteers, and to every single one of our Legatees for coming along and making the day such a wonderful occasion. See you next year!
