September 2020
Community Support have a new Community Support Officer, Nicole Hawick. Nicole will be working with our senior legatees, parents’ network and volunteers. Nicole and Leisa will be working closely together in order to keep everyone connected in these uncertain times. I am sure that you will make her welcome when we finally have the opportunity to catch up again.
We are still here for you. Things have changed dramatically and we are not out and about seeing everyone as we would normally be doing, but we welcome a phone call or an email. We love to hear from you, just to chat and see how you are going. We miss you all!
We encourage every Police Legatee to connect with us on our Facebook private group NSWPL Connect. In Connect we hold coffee and chat meetings on a Wednesday. This is a great way to say hello, have a chat, and get to know other legatees that you might not otherwise meet. We have a great laugh with Judy Eaton who sometimes tells us jokes that may be just a little bit naughty. We also have our lovely Far North Coast hostess-with-the-mostest, Local Area Lunch coordinator Nerida Dean, who wows us with her fashionista collection of hats. And Deb Anderson keeps us entertained with her tradie friends passing by in the background pinching Tim Tams. It is great fun and I would encourage everyone to pop in and say hello.
COVID has made us think outside the box when it comes to keeping connected. The last school holidays we had a weekly Scattergories competition with the teenagers who were happy to zoom in and play. After a very competitive match Ainsley Baker won the prize followed closely by her two sisters Mackenzie and Jordan. Go team Baker!
Another way of staying connected is our buddy system. If you would like to meet someone new and have a chat every couple of weeks, send us an email and we will buddy you up with someone in a different area that you may never have had the chance to meet. This is a great way of supporting each other in a time when we can’t just jump in a car and go visit or go to lunch.
You are very important to us. Please remember we are only a phone call away.
