Callum strikes the perfect note

We recently had the pleasure and the privilege of visiting the NSW Police Band rehearsal space, where some of our favourite musicians teamed up with young Police Legatee Callum Stewart on piano to rehearse and perform the Beethoven piece “Quintet in E-flat for Piano and Winds (Op. 16)".

It was a joy to watch all the musicians at work, and a joy to see Callum focussed on making the music the focus of the occasion. The quartet were impressed with Callum’s playing and were quick to compliment him, all of which he deflected in his usual modest way, commenting instead on how good it was to be playing the piece with an ensemble rather than solo. The group had two rehearsals several weeks apart, and then did a full performance recorded by the Police Media Unit. Keep an eye on our YouTube channel in coming weeks for the full clip!
