Bill Crews Scholarship Presentation

April 2018

The first recipient of the Bill Crews Scholarship was awarded the honour in a ceremony on 15 March 2018. Probationary Constable Emma Bailey is based in the Campsie Local Area Command, which was where Bill Crews spent his formative policing years. Kel and Sharon Crews, Bill’s parents, were in attendance at the ceremony, as was NSW Police Legacy Chair Paul Bousfield. Many of Bill’s former colleagues also made the journey to Campsie, in honour of Bill’s memory and in support of his family.

The award is worth $6,000, and will be awarded each year to a police officer who has attested or affirmed, and completed at least one year as a probationary constable. The scholarship honours the memory of Detective Constable William Crews VA, killed on duty at Bankstown in 2010, and is an ongoing reminder of his service and sacrifice.
