September 2020
It’s been a busy time for the BACKUP for Life team with former police and their families making contact regarding our short-term counselling service.
These calls are often difficult, but the task of actually making the call is the hardest part. Once counselling commences there’s invariably a positive outcome which often leads into attendance at our upcoming programs.
With the postponement of our Holistic Health & Wellbeing, Career Confidence, and Beyond the Badge programs earlier in the year, we relished the possibility of getting started again in August – adhering strictly to the COVID-safe guidelines, of course! Engaging with our former police and their families is what we do best, and Richard and I are looking forward to hosting a range of programs in the coming months.
It’s always lovely to meet our former police and their families in person, as assisting during difficult times brings a level of heartfelt and ongoing support from the BACKUP team. Following up and hearing how people are progressing is extremely rewarding, and adds real value to the lives of the participants.
A number of career incentives applications have been coming through with former officers using the time at home to prepare a comprehensive resume. A quick reminder that information on Backup for Life services can be found on our page on the NSW Police Legacy website. And don’t forget we’re only a phone call or an email away – get in touch if you need assistance or have any questions or concerns.
