BACKUP for Life participated in the roundtable on trauma-related stress in primary responders organised by Australia 21 and FearLess held in Canberra in May 2017.

Australia 21 and FearLess have been working in alliance to generate a genuine national discussion on the issue of trauma-related stress in Australia, particularly as it impacts on police, paramedics, fire service, and other emergency service responders, emergency ward doctors and nurses, and other first-responder agency personnel.

Representatives from primary responder organisations from across Australia all came together to explore and discuss: “How can prevention and management of the impact of PTSD on first responders be improved in your view?”

BACKUP for Life was able to represent both former NSW Police Officers and their families in these discussions.
