November 2017
The second annual BACKUP for Life Expo was a resounding success with encouraging numbers and a much higher percentage of serving police in attendance this year. The registration process was flawless with the meet and greet by staff and volunteers creating a warm welcome which assisted those who were a little anxious about attending the event. The work of Simon Bradstock and his team in processing the registrations was brilliant and the inclusion of one of our legatees, Olivia Anderson, spoke volumes in regards to bringing our retired officers back into the police family.
There were over 60 stall holders, and the afternoon networking drinks were very popular, making the day a great social event. The BACKUP for Life Mentors were of great assistance throughout the day and mixed with the attendees giving support and guidance when required. Our volunteers were also an intrinsic part of the expo and added to the overall success of the event.
Forensic Services had a steady stream of guests through their display, and likewise the HWP cars, Cycle, Command Post and Dog Squad were popular attractions. And finally, Anthony Ackroyd’s presentation was enjoyed by many and was a great way to end the day.
We look forward to seeing our retired police officers and families again in 2018 for an even bigger and better Expo!
